Build Your Own Motivational Poster

A while back I discovered this site where you can make your own motivational style posters. Here's one I did of my daughter that I thought was pretty funny.

Patrick's First Day of School

Tommorow is Patrick's first day of school. I never imagined preschool would be so involved. There was an open house earlier this afternoon and tonight there was a parent meeting that has run 35 minutes over as I type this. Flouride drops? Nut allergies? Car seats? Wow.

Picnic Pics

We missed the MS Company Picnic - right in the middle of the recent heat wave - but today was the MSIT "Summer Bash" which we did manage to get to. I also have a new phone, w/ a better camera and a QWERTY keyboard, so I'm going to try and moblog more.
Note to self: get memory card for new phone so I can take more pictures!

He's Really in the Sh-tter

When Fox News reports that George W. Bush's approval rating has dropped to a record low 33%, you might be tempted to think "Sucks to be him". And while I'm sure it does, it sucks worse to be the rest of us right now.

Renew your Rolling Stone Subscription!

From "The Worst President in History?" in the current issue of Rolling Stone:
George W. Bush's presidency appears headed for colossal historical disgrace. Barring a cataclysmic event on the order of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, after which the public might rally around the White House once again, there seems to be little the administration can do to avoid being ranked on the lowest tier of U.S. presidents. And that may be the best-case scenario. Many historians are now wondering whether Bush, in fact, will be remembered as the very worst president in all of American history.
Worst. President. Ever. Yep, that's about right And check out the cover:
That's even better than this one:

Bush F-cking Lies - No Surprises Here

From the Washington Post:

On May 29, 2003, 50 days after the fall of Baghdad, President Bush proclaimed a fresh victory for his administration in Iraq: Two small trailers captured by U.S. and Kurdish troops had turned out to be long-sought mobile "biological laboratories." He declared, "We have found the weapons of mass destruction."

A secret fact-finding mission to Iraq -- not made public until now -- had already concluded that the trailers had nothing to do with biological weapons. Leaders of the Pentagon-sponsored mission transmitted their unanimous findings to Washington in a field report on May 27, 2003, two days before the president's statement.

[Lacking Biolabs, Trailers Carried Case for War]

Just another fucking day in the Oval Office I guess

Christians Sue for Right to be Bigoted A--holes

Saw this story on Memeorandum and it frankly made me sick. Apparently, some (note I'm trying not to generalize) Christians consider policies that ban intolerance as an "unacceptable infringement on her right to religious expression". So let me get this straight (so to speak): the "right to be Christian" (according to the Rev. Rick Scarborough) absolutely requires you to be able to actively be intolerant of homosexuals? What a bunch of crap.

And by the way, anybody who calls homosexuality a "lifestyle choice" doesn't know shit-all about sexuallity in general. Why would anybody actually choose to be persecuted and tormented in this way?

Merry Christmas To All

This was the best Christmas ever before it even got started. Just seeing my nearly 3-year old son so excited to see what Santa had brought. He ran up and down the hall waking everybody up. And it wasn't about the presents - he was more excited to see Santa had eaten the cookies and drank the O.J. we left out (Patrick's selection, not mine) than he was to see the "car me a wide in" which was the big present Santa brought him.

This was the first year Patrick could really conceptualize about Christmas and Santa and being good and presents and gift giving. His first Christmas was like Riley's Christmas this year - all pretty lights, family in town, new things to play with and wrapping paper to eat. Last year, he got that it was Christmas, but it was pretty anti-climatic as we were all sick - I brought in Christmas dinner from the resturant in the hotel where my parents used to stay.

The only thing I can think of that could top this Christmas is next Christmas.

A Snow Day

Someday, when my son has grown, I'll look upon the man and remember the boy who asked me to stay home from work and play with him in the snow.

Welcome Daddy

I know I haven't blogged here recently, but I had to relate this story...

My son Patrick is just over 2 1/2 years old. Until today, he still slept in his crib. Julie and I are strong believers in co-sleeping so Patrick goes to sleep in his crib at night but rarely wakes up in his crib come morning. So since he's never left in his crib, he's never tried to climb out of it.

However, today we moved his crib into our bedroom because we're getting ready to paint his room - don't want him sleeping in paint fumes. The crib was too big for the door, so I had to take it apart to get in out of his bedroom. When I put it back together in our room, I left one side of it off so it's now it's a bed instead of a crib. He was SO EXCITED!!! It took him an hour to go down for his nap because he was so excited.

Anyway, we went to the movies tonight - Wallice and Gromit which he loved - so by bedtime he was pretty exausted. I stayed in with him since he's still getting used to the new arrangements. He wanted me to be really close, so I sat right there with him and spoke softly so he'd get sleepy and fall asleep. Just as he was drifting off, I said "Thanks for being my son". His response was "Welcome Daddy".

WHAT A GREAT KID!!!

Anyway, here are some more recent pics of Patrick and Rileyanne.

Neighborhood Walk

Finally (for tonight) here are Patrick & Riley in the double stroller ready for a walk around the block. Notice Patrick's cool shades.

Dino train

And here's Patrick making a train of dinosaurs at the Redmond Arena Sports Fun Zone. He sure likes to line things up.
